Curriculum

Private Lessons
Private lessons are offered on all popular instruments and voice. We have found that private one on one instruction allows students to progress at their own pace and gain the best understanding of musical techniques. Students can start guitar, singing, drum or bass lessons as early as 4 years old. Students may start lessons at any time of the year or month, so there's no reason to wait to get started. A variety of styles are taught such as pop, jazz, rock, latin, blues and classical. Contact the office to see which times and days are available for voice, drum or guitar lessons at our Melbourne school.

Group Lessons
For beginners, we offer: voice, piano, mandolin and guitar lessons - great for families and friends, in addition to being cost effective.

Group classes are a great idea when beginning guitar or singing lessons at Melbourne's Lygon Music School, or, if two children in the family are interested in the same instrument. Call the school for times and availability.

CongoPercussion Workshops
Percussion is where the rhythm meets the beat in our drum lessons. All ages can learn Latin and Afro-Cuban rhythms and movement in music, and play in large percussion ensembles with Elvis Aljus, one of Australia's best percussion teachers. It’s also lots of fun. Contact the school now to get started with drum lessons.Weekly on Sunday 1-2:15pm and 2:30- 3:45pm.

Band Workshops
Band workshops teach musicians how to play their instruments with other musicians. They include the study of musical forms like classic rock, Motown, pop and current music. All groups are sorted by ages, (11-15, 16-20, 21+) and levels of ability. Contact the school for further information, and register for the band now! weekly on Sundays 9:30-11am and 11-12:30pm
